ETHRW’s Condemnation on the unlawful Deportation of 40 Uyghur Refugees from Thailand to China

East Turkistan Human Rights Watch Association strongly condemns the secret Deportation of the Uyghurs from Thailand to China.

Despite the collective efforts of the international communities, countries and other NGOs from the various parts of the world including East Turkistan and Uyghur organisations, the secret transfer of the Uyghurs from Thailand to China on 27th February 2025 by a Chartered plane emerged as an alarming concern of the global community.

Such act of forcible transfer of the Uyghurs to China where the Uyghurs will face ultimate and indefinite torture, mistreatments, harm and other means of degradation by the State and non State actors in China.

The unforgotten tragedy of the forcible deportation of 109 Uyghurs from Thailand in 2015 clearly proves the undeniable consequences of harm of the Uyghur returnees to China regardless of the deceptive propaganda of Chinese authorities.

The undeniable fact of Uyghur Genocide that shaken the global political climate in the past years with proven evidences that has been established on the truth about the collective arbitrary detention of Millions of Uyghurs, vilified state policies implemented in East Turkistan and other crimes against humanity that China perpetually committed on the Uyghur Muslims of East Turkistan still remained a fresh notion of the global political discourse.

Without any rational consideration of the future safety of the Uyghurs returnees and disregarding the international treaties and norms, Thailand’s hawkish act of handing over the Uyghur refugees to China is a clear breach of International Obligation and violations of it’s own constitutional obligations to defend the human rights.

The growing criticism of the international community on Thailand for its improper decision in handling the Uyghur refugees will spark a non stoppable dismissal of Thailand’s credibility and accountability in the international stage.

East Turkistan Human Rights Watch Association continues to engage with relevant stake holders, International and regional NGOs and other human rights institutions to make Thai Government accountable for its mistakes by sending Uyghurs back to China.

As a representative institution for the interest of the Uyghur Muslims of East Turkistan, along with other conscious and like minded groups, ETHRW demands the following:

1. An Immediate response from the Countries to request Thailand’s transparency and accountability for the error by sending the Uyghurs to an immediate harm and persecution in China

2. Urging United Nations Human Rights Council to question the unilateral decision of Thailand and reconsider its membership to Human Rights Council

3. Urging International NGOs to keep monitoring the alarming situation of the Uyghur returnees to ensure their lifetime safety

4. Urging international Media and other human rights groups to publicise and question Thailand’s breach of international humanitarian laws

5. Urging the United Nations to Initiate an immediate action strategy to assure the safety of the Uyghur returnees

With abundant reference to the China’s Genocide policies on Uyghur Muslims, ETHRW calls the International actors not to demise the ongoing genocide of Uyghurs committed by Chinese authorities and provide a comprehensive protection mechanism of the universal rights of the Uyghur Muslims of East Turkistan.
